We have no clue where you are located, so there’s not much anyone can do with what info you’ve given us.

I would call a local drug treatment center, crisis intervention hot line, or even your doctor, and ask what your options are in your community.

    Good luck!

Good for you for taking the first step in realizing that your mother needs help. If your mother is really addicted to drugs in a manner that it is dangerous to herself and the environment, take her to a drug rehab place and if they think that won’t do well on her own, then they can ask for a court order.

It depends where you are. I have had lots of experience with drug addiction. Feel free to e-mail me.

    you cant sorry

you can commit her for 72 hours at the hospital psych ward. or you could have her arrested, but they will only hold her for about 10 hours. arrest might lead to some help. cops like nice addicts sometimes.

i personally had to make a choice-alcohol or my family.

I understand your concern, but it’s really hard to help someone unless they want help. It’s as simple as that. There is an organization called Narcotics anonymous that would be a great benefit to her, but she would have to do the work. Most people who do drugs are trying to cover up something inside that really hurts them. If she WOULD consider NA, she would learn WHY she does what she does. Not only is this a good option, it is also FREE.
Perhaps you could look on line and find this organization in your area and offer to take her there and stay with her.
Its good to see someone care enough to try to help in some way. Not everyone has this support. God bless you in your endeavor!

Yes, there is definitely a place that will hold her against her will. Atlanta has several good places to choose from. If she has been on drugs for 20 years, she may not want any help. If she doesn’t, it sounds like your brothers and sisters are all on your side, so that’s a big help. I would just suggest first of all to her tht she go and get some help. If she refuses to, go down to your local court house, and fill out a mental inquest warant. You will have to fill it out stating the reasons why she needs help, etc.All of you can work together on it. Then, turn it in, and you will probably get to talk to someone there about it. The will ask ou routine questions about your mom and just answer them truthfully. Then, the facts will be presented to a judge, and if he sees a reason to have her committed to an institution, probably a state institution, then he can do that for 72 hours. The ppl at the institution will put her through tests to see how bad she is, etc. If she shows that she is a threat to herself or to others, then they judge can order her into the institution until they think she is ready to come out. It will be the hardest thing to do that you’ve ever done, but it will well worth it in the long run. Good Luck!

Drugs, what kind of drugs very veg question…

I to have been on drugs for gosh 30 something years but from the doctor. Seizures, broken bones, deformed bones, arthritis, pain…..These prescriptions are all drugs to me!!

    So what kind of drugs??
I am sure you have a welfare office there in your town, go talk to them if and only if you are prepared to reap the consequences.

Consequences- if your mother is dealing in illegal drugs, she could be sent to prison where they do not help drug addicts.
Send to mental health hospital she may never get to leave.
Selling off her home and your savings to pay for her hospitalization and/or a attorney for the door that was opened and now you wish you did not open it and now learned that there are people out there who just want your money and do not care about you, your mother or your family .

If your mother is legal and is not hurting the family then getting the government or anyone outside the family involved could be detrimental.

BUT since this question is so veg we do not know if these are illegal drugs, drugs from the doctor or what??

If one does choose rapid detox program it should be performed in an ICU setting so the patient can be monitored closely. Ask what medications are used during the procedure. Suboxone is a dangerous and addictive drug and should be no part of a? continuing aftercare treatment plan.

  • ljude01 says:

Rapid detox does work. It gets the opiates out of ones system usually quickly and most times under the proper circumstances safely. The main problem with the florifa detox program which is not widely known is that this particular treatment center offers a post drug regimin of either naltrexone OR suboxone which is part opiate AND part opiate antagonist. A person choosing rapid detox with Florida detox risk being detoxed from opiates and being put back? onopiates if the patient chooses suboxone

  • ljude01 says:

The reason why cravings are an issue is because any kind of addiction is an automatic coping mechanism to get ones self out of feeling helpless. Craving is emeshed in the conflicts inside us, fueled by anger, an automatic unconscious decision is made in the mind to? pick up the addictive behavior once more and the cycle of addiction begins again. Therapy works, 12 step programs may work but the first step is to detox from the addictive substances.

  • m1dlifecrisis says:

@itchyundies This true, crqavings can last from anywhere to a week too forever.
But as far as dependancy/withdrawl to the opiates? goes, the naltrexone removes that.
It IS successful BUT afterwords it is up to the person and his will power.
