I have to find an addiction treatment center for a cousin of mine who has gotten herself addicted to heroin. It was her first try that did it. She got hooked after that. Now she wants to stop, but she needs help. Can somebody tell me how to find addiction treatment centers here?

You can take your cousin to a doctor and then ask for recommendations. You can also call 800-559-9503. It’s a helpline and the people on the other end of the line are really friendly and they’ll be ready to answer your queries as well as give you suggestions about the addiction treatment centers there. I would find a local AA meeting or NA meeting and ask there. If you need to find a list of meeting you can look them up at

I would highly suggest methadone maintainance treatment which is a type of “subsitution” drug that prevents withdrawl (which is EXTREMELY painful and miserable) and also curbs cravings for heroin. This is very helpful in being able to focus on getting your life in order instead of focusing on the physical pain. Anyway if you are interested in something like that for your cousin there are 2 clinics I am aware of and they are in Little Rock. I don’t know how close that is to where you’re at but if it’s too far perhaps your cousin could move closer to Little Rock. The clinics are as follows:

Call these clinics and they can help you further. A good resouce for methadone clinic listings is methadonetreatment.net. You could also call your local social service agency that handles chemical dependancy evaluations and placement and ask them if there are an other clinics that may be in your area. Hope this helps.
