this is not a lecture on skills or game mastery it’s about stopping the social breakdown of society that the technology industry is trying to keep a stranglehold on for maximum profits. a single dollar is more? important to these companies than your entire life, kids and or marriage it’s all about your money. wake up people and stop derailing a good conversation

well, pvp is different. If someone is ultimately successful in PvP and arenas and wins all and loses none… why would that person be winning? so often? unless it took skill! But then again, reacting in accordance to your surroundings changing and anticipating your opponents moves is what you must do in most online games. Maybe that’s not skill anyway.

Aranykai, have you actually done any research into this? Here are some facts:

    1. WoW has over 12 million users. Experts say that over 40% of? them play more than 40 hours / week and are considered to be addicted.
    2. There are 4000 members in the WoW Widows support group.
    3. The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics and OSHA say RSI costs U.S. companies more than $15-20 billion / year and there are 260,000+ carpal tunnel surgeries performed each year with 30 days of work lost.

Too? be perfectly honest, you lost me when you started describing these injuries as an epidemic. Stop overacting and get some factual and statistical information. You are coming across like the news media, fear mongering and sensationalist.

    I wasn’t aware grinding was a skill.

Spending hours googling faqs and planning where to put your points, then level grinding for? days to get those points.

That’s an odd definition of skill.

I use the computer 4-6 hours a day. But sometimes if I get a new game I can stay on for 10 hours. It did start hurting me socially. But I’ve learned how to balance my addictions so that I’m not hurting anymore. But computer/internet addiction? can ruin your life if you let it. Trust me.

  • tazerfire says:

not really, all your doing is clicking and? pressing a few buttons…. to hard, its not that difficult, other games require more skills such as planning advanced tactics like eve online, eve online is much much harder and requires way more skill than wow, and it is true, wow is just a colourful chat room, you chat and do a little bit of game plaing… fail.
