In any hot area there are some people who like to tan and some that don’t. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.

There are a number of Tanning Salons in the area but I would not say that people tan allot here. There is enough sunshine that most people dont.
i use to live in san jose.. weather is great hot in spring, summer, and mid fall… i personaly did not tan but… yes people naturally tan becausee of pool parties, and other events.. like the beach…do dont know if ur old enough but the rehab pool party comes around on summer…
I hope you enjoy living in San Jose. As others have said, to tan or not to tan is up to you. Skin cancer is a consideration, be sure to wear a high level of sun protection. It also ages you, another thought I leave for you!
