Question by Dan C: Has anyone stayed at Worldmark Coral Baja in San Jose, Del Cabo? How much is food and drinks there?
Is it safe to leave the resort and explore San Lucas? What about at night? Can you make phone calls from your room to San Lucas for free? I will be down there June 30th – July 8th. Will the be anything going on down there July 4th?

Hola Dan. Not too sure about the costs of food and drinks at the Coral Baja — its been a while. I think it can be a little expensive, so you might consider going to restaurants and bars outside the resort. You can go really cheap and eat at taco stands for only a couple dollars. Thats what I do. Delicious. Buy your own bottles of booze to cut down on costs there too.

As far as safety, CSL is extremely safe. I know there has been lots of news about drug wars/cartel and political unrest, but it doesn’t affect us here in Cabo. Having said that, people should exercise some cautions when in Mexico, such as never walking alone at night, or accepting free drinks/food from strangers, or flashing huge amounts of cash or jewelry around. Things like that.

Land line phones are extremely expensive in Cabo, and it costs quite a bit to make phone calls local or international. Most everyone here has a cell phone. Your only cheap option is to buy a phone card and make your calls. Cheaper than paying the hotel rate.
