I live in Russia, cannabis is not legal in our country, even for medical use. However there is a lot of ways to get it. My mother? is totaly alchoholic and I tried to make her quit different ways: medical, hypnosis and etc. I spent a lot of money to help her. I do not drink alchohol at all, but sometimes I do marijuana (not quite often, about two times a month). So, i thought, what if marijuana can help my mother to quit? Is there any evidence that it will work? Please, tell me if you tried.

While I think that abuse of marijuana is a problem, I do not see the use of medical marijuana harmful to alcoholics. If they are using it to relieve cravings and also continue to lead? an active and social lifestyle I see no issues. I hope this topic is explored in the traditional recovery communities. Would be interesting to see some new offshoot recovery groups develop with this strategy in mind.

I went against my rehabs advice and started smoking marijuana when I got out. 6 months later I have yet to touch a drop of alcohol. This is after being? a daily, binge drinker for three years, I can count with my fingers the days I didnt drink.

Marijuana doesnt stomp out the cravings completly, but it sure helps me more then AA. I also learned many things about my self in rehab.

Now if I decide to quit about marijuana, I dont have to worry about having the shakes. easy peasy
