Pt. 1: Laurie Armstrong Kelsoe Describes Her Nightmare Meth Addiction
Pt. 1: Laurie Armstrong Kelsoe Describes Her Nightmare Meth Addiction – www.MalibuBeachRecovery.com – Former model Laurie Armstrong Kelsoe, mother of two, recalls her meth addiction nightmare. Beautiful, smart and sociable, Laurie had modeled for Kim Dawson and worked at Dillard’s, an upscale Dallas department store. After graduating from University of North Texas with a degree in education and a minor in marketing, she married into a prominent Denton family and had two sons. While they were growing up, she substitute taught and then opened a successful wholesale business that supplied a chain of stores. She divorced after 13 years of marriage and her meth addiction started a year later. She was 41. “I drank socially in college and didn’t see a problem with it. My husband and I drank socially, sometimes more than we should have, but I wouldn’t say it was my drug of choice. My best girl friend at the time and I went to Dallas for a weekend to get away from our children and boyfriends and she said, ‘I have some substance, something I think you might really like. If you don’t, want to try it, it’s okay, I know you don’t do drugs.’ And I did it and was hooked. I loved it from the minute I tried it.” Now, with the help of Malibu Beach Recovery Center, Laurie is living a clean and healthy life.
