Question by crisis: what is snotty or pretentious american’s fascination with costa rica?
I’m costa rican, my grandparents are from there and my father was born there. A whole side of my family lives there. I’ve visited and have many memories. Now granted it’s a very diverse and beautiful place. Thing is, it’s become the mecca for annoying people to cultivate and vacation at. I appreciate being 1 of only 3 million or so people and I get nauseas watching people develop that country into a tourist trap for people who bitch at the mcdonalds workers for not speaking english or for doing dangerous things in the rainforest…
so why do so many people think they’re sophisticated and unique for visiting?
PS: i’m not against anybody enjoying themselves or visiting

actually it’s mexicans, guatamalens, colombians and nicquraquins..(yeh spelled that wrong..)
that sneak over our borders and steal our jobs in america..
and last time i visited toronto i was surprised to see canadia has it’s fair share of mexi’s too.
yeh, i already clarified that i didn’t spell it right and since i’m not writing an essay i never bother spell checking, using appropriate grammar or capitalizing countries and what not..
and by the way..that’s crap, the business owners just are taking advantage but trust me americans will do anything illegal immigrants do, they just DEMAND a fair legal wage…americans friggen pump septic systems, mate barnyard animals, go fishing in alaska for crabs and crap and pick up people’s trash on a truck…
what the hell makes you think that they wouldn’t pack meat or go berry picking if given the opportunity?
Those illegal immigrants you’re defending are also exporting most of the money they make in this country back to their home country or saving it so they can move back and be millionaires…
NOT ALL but a lot of them are only here to exploit the country and if that wasn’t true then they would enter LEGALLY.

I’m annoyed with european americans visiting costa rica to go touring the rainforests and doing other ridiculious crap only because they act like they own the place and they’re only fascination with it is the cute “ticos” and the fact that it cost a lot of money to travel there.

I totally understand what you mean, Costa Ricans are very friendly towards tourists, unfortunately some tourists think they’re royalty(not even royalty would behave like this, they have manners). They complain how some people don’t speak english in Costa Rica…um HELLO? The official language is SPANISH, and these people don’t have the responsibility to learn a language(English) just to accommodate your stay…if anything TOURISTS should be the ones learning Spanish.
Some people are just rude and ignorant.
