My cousin is 15 she has 1 child who is 13 months old. She had the child after being raped by her sister’s boyfriend. (the rape went unreported until it was discovered that she was pregnant and he had been raping her since she was 12)
Her mother (my step-aunt) is an alcoholic and former drug user she is also an “escort” in San Fransisco she has not provided the best atmosphere for her children to grow up in.
So now my cousin is 15 with a baby, I’ve offered to help her with the baby and I’ve offered to let her live with me and my husband and go to a private school, but her mother won’t let her (even though my “aunt” has a history with CPS)
Recently my cousin fan away with the baby, she ran away because her mom’s boyfriend sodomized her and beat her up, he even burned the side of her face with a curling iron. The police found her and the baby living in an abandon apartment complex in San Jose Ca. My cousin had actually made a very safe and comforting home for her child and she has always taken the best care of him that she could. Unfortunately the baby was taken away from her when the police found her and she is still in the hospital, a social worker visited with me today and told me I qualify to take custody of her baby but if I did I would not be able to take custody of my cousin, because she has child abuse charges pending (abuse for taking her child with her when she ran away it’s considered neglect and endangerment.)
I’m torn between my cousin and her child, my husband said it would be best to take the baby but I can’t help but feel like this is my only chance to save her.
Anyone familiar with teen runaways and parenting? will she get the child back? where will they send my cousin if I take in the baby?

i think you should take the baby it sounds like your cuzn needs to be taken out of the enviroment but if you dont take the baby who will??? the mom? your cuz wud want you to take the baby shell need to know the baby is safe and it sounds like she will b with you
